Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is in poll bound Manipur to drum up support for the BJP. As part of his visit, Sonowal today addressed a poll rally at Wabgai Assembly Constituency in Kakching district to campaign for party candidate Usham Deben Singh. Sonowal was accompanied by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The union minister was given a rousing welcome at the Keirak Kangjeibung ground.
Addressing the gathering, Sarbananda Sonowal said that only the BJP can make Manipur reach unprecedented heights of development and women empowerment.
Meanwhile, speaking exclusively to Northeast Live on the sidelines of his campaign, Sonowal exuded confidence that the BJP will cross the 40 seat mark. The Union Minister also lauded Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s leadership.
Notably, Wabgai assembly constituency is known for its large agriculture products. As part of the tradition, large number of women could be seen carrying local vegetable produce on their heads as a symbolic contribution to the candidate.
Besides N Biren Singh and Sarbananda Sonowal, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Union minister of state Pratima Bhoumik and Manipur BJP president A Sharda Devi were also present at the public meeting.
