Manipur Assembly Elections: BJP bigwigs secure wins, M Prithviraj loses Moirang

In one pro-incumbency sweep BJP touched the magic figure of 30 in Manipur. Going along most of BJP’s bigwigs were able to win with a few upsets in between.
Manipur Speaker and BJP candidate Y Khemchand who lead from Singjamei and emerged victorious from the constituency where he is up against Congress’ I Hemochandra Singh.
Former Minister and BJP candidate from Heirok, Th Radheshyam won by a massive margin beating Congress M Okendro.
BJP’s K Raghumani Singh emerged as the giant slayer beating Deputy Chief Minister and NPP leader Y Joykumar from the Uripok seat.
Letpao Haokip who joined the BJP from NPP ahead of elections won from the Tengnoupal seat. Haokip defeated D KOrungthang of the NPF. Haokip had contested from the Chandel seat last time.
BJP’s woman candidate from Chandel, SS OLish also scripted a massive victory in the polls.
And it was not just SS OLish, but another woman candidate from the BJP, Nemcha Kipgen won from the Kangpokpi seat.
Meanwhile, former MPCC president K Govindas who joined the BJP ahead of the polls, won the Bishenpur seat.
BJP’s Paolienlal Haokip defeated Congress TN Haokip in the Saikot seat registering a big win for the party.
However Prithviraj Singh lost from Moirang. He was defeated by Thongam Shanti Singh of NPP.
