As part of Manipur government’s initiative on war against drugs, troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (East) on Friday recovered 1.5 kilograms of Heroin near the Indo-Myanmar border in Sangaikot sub-division of Churachandpur district.

The approximate cost of the recovered contraband item is estimated to be around Rs 6 crore.

With an aim to curb rampant trans border smuggling, the Churachandpur Battalion of the Assam Rifles launched a surveillance operation near the Indo-Myanmar Border and successfully apprehended a drug smuggler along with the highly-valued psychotropic drug.

The arrested individual has been identified as Lang Hau Suan. He was later handed over to Churachandpur Police Station for further investigation.
