Arrested Arambai Tenggol leader Kanan Singh has been brought to Guwahati from Imphal.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a statement stated that it arrested the Arambai Tenggol member at the Imphal Airport today for his involvement in various criminal activities related to the violence in Manipur in 2023.
Information related to the arrest has been given to the family members, the CBI said.

The Arambai Tenggol member will be produced before the court for police remand.
The CBI is investigating cases related to the Manipur violence as per the directive of the Supreme Court. Trial of the violence cases have been shifted to Guwahati in view of the law and order situation in Manipur.
It may be mentioned here that the situation in Manipur escalated yesterday late evening after word of Kanan Singh and 4 others being picked up by police spread like wildfire.
Protesters torched security vehicles, and blocked roads. Several protestors were also injured. Security forces had to fire tear gas shells and gun shots were heard too as the number of angry and aggressive locals joining the protest swelled.
In response, the state government imposed curfew and suspended mobile internet and data services in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching districts for five days starting late Saturday night. The government cited concerns over social media misuse to justify the digital blackout.
Authorities also imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in the affected districts, banning gatherings, rallies, and public processions. Only medical services and media personnel have been exempted.
Protesters have since announced a 10-day total shutdown in the valley, further escalating tensions.
Earlier in the day today, 25 MLAs across party lines and Rajya Sabha MP L Sanajaoba met Governor Ajay Bhalla and urged him to ensure peace returns swiftly and that transparency is maintained in all future law enforcement actions.
