Manipur: All schools to remain shut on July 3 and 4 due to worsening flood situation

The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Manipur for the next five days.
All schools in Manipur will remain closed on June 3 and 4. The decision has been taken in view of the worsening flood situation in the state.
“Keeping in mind the safety of the students and teachers of the state, all schools of the state, Government, Government Aided, Private and Central Schools will remain closed on the and 4th of July, 2024, ” said Director of Education, Manipur, L. Nandakumar Singh in a notification.

Rising water levels of major rivers in Imphal is threatening to add to the woes of the people. The water is fast approaching the danger mark. A flood advisory has been issued by the district administration.
Imphal East district magistrate Kh Diana issued a flood advisory warning people of incessant rainfall in various areas of Imphal East district and advised people to take necessary precautions to prevent the loss of life and property.
