Manipur: 5 Imphal-Based Civil Bodies Calls For a Mega Protest Rally on 10 Dec Demanding Repeal of AFSPA

The demand for the repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has intensified in Manipur. Five Imphal-based civil society organisations (CSOs) have announced a mega protest rally on 10 December, urging the repeal of AFSPA, protection of human rights, and action against armed miscreants disrupting peace in the state.
During a press conference at the office of the All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO), Konsam Phulindro, Chairman of the Committee on Human Rights Manipur, stated that AMUCO, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, All Manipur Women Voluntary Association, Committee on Human Rights Manipur, and Manipuri Students Federation will jointly organise the rally.
The CSOs appealed to the public to support the protest under various themes highlighting human rights and justice.
The rally emphasises growing public discontent with AFSPA’s controversial provisions and its impact on civil liberties in Manipur.
