Manipur: 4 non-local labourers arrested for violating ILP system

CM N Biren Singh appealed to all employers, contractors, and residents to cooperate with the government in enforcing the ILP system
In a crackdown on Inner Line Permit (ILP) violations, as many as 4 non-local labourers were apprehended in Manipur on Saturday for residing in the state without valid ILP cards.
The arrested labourers have been identified as–Afsar Ali (22), Md. Sanfaraj (20), Md. Rahamtullah (23) and Sahabaj Alam (20).
They were found residing without valid ILP cards and overstaying at the Yairipok Bishnunaha water reservoir construction site.
Soon after their arrest, the defaulters were produced before the Executive Magistrate, Thoubal and steps are being taken to deport them from the state.
Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister N Biren Singh appealed to all employers, contractors, and residents to cooperate with the government in enforcing the ILP system.
Taking to X, CM N Biren Singh wrote, “I appeal to all employers, contractors, and residents to cooperate with the authorities in implementing the ILP system effectively.”
Recently, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, during the celebration of five years of the ILP system, lauded the Modi-led central government for protecting the state’s indigenous people and said, “ILP is very much necessary for safeguarding our civilisation, culture, and traditions. If we take necessary actions in time, people will not suffer.”
What is ILP?
The ILP is a special permit required by residents of other regions of the country to enter Mizoram, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.
