Mango Diplomacy: Assam CM thanks Bangladesh PM for the ‘delicious mangoes’, discusses bilateral issues with Envoy

This is the mango season in the subcontinent, and it is not surprising to see diplomacy surrounding the king of fruits. Well, Guwahati-based Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner in India Arif Mohammed called on Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma yesterday to hand over a crate of mangoes gifted to him by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Taking to Twitter Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and expressed gratitude for sending him what he called the delicious mangoes.
Dr Sarma discussed bilateral issues with the envoy and underlined issues of mutual interest besides discussing the partnership under India’s Act East Policy. By the way, mango is the national tree of Bangladesh. The mango is native to South Asia, from where it has been distributed worldwide to become one of the most cultivated fruits in the tropics.
