Foundation stones for as many as 19 cancer hospitals to be laid in Assam on June 17.

The state government had tied up with Tata Trust to set up the cancer hospitals. Tata Group Chairman emeritus Ratan Tata will attend the foundation laying ceremony.

The cancer hospitals have been categorized into three levels, namely L1, L2 and L3. Two dental colleges will also be set up with students intake capacity of 50 students in each college.

This was informed by Assam Health and Family Welfare minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma while addressing the media at Dispur Janata Bhawan.

Dr Sarma also pointed out that as many as 1,120 people benefited under the Atal Amrit Abhiyan last month.

He also announced the introduction of the Ayushman Bharat scheme that would come up in the state in the next six months.

Meanwhile, Dr Sarma also inforemed that the salaries of contractual teachers have been hiked from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000.

Moreover, the upper age limit for government job application has now been increased to 44 years.
