Magh Bihu celebrations begin in Assam; greetings pour in

Magh Bihu, also known as Bhogali Bihu, is being celebrated by holding feasts to mark the end of the harvesting season

Magh Bihu or Bhogali Bihu celebrations have begun across Assam. Today the people of the state are celebrating Uruka. It marks the end of the harvesting season. Dinners and feasts with family and friends is how Uruka is celebrated.

On the occasion of Magh Bihu, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh extended greetings to the people of Assam, wishing them to stay blessed with light and prosperity.

“On the auspicious occasion of Magh Bihu, may the people of Assam be blessed with light and prosperity.” Happy Magh Bihu!”, tweets CM Biren Singh.


Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu also extended his greetings on the occasions of Magh Bihu, Makar Sankranti, Pongal, and Lohri. He hoped that the festive season and the year that lie ahead would bring peace, happiness, joy, and prosperity to all.

Arunachal MP Tapir Gao also sent his heartiest greetings to the people of Assam on the joyous occasion of the Magh Bihu festival.

“Sending my heartiest greetings to everyone on the joyous occasion of the Magh Bihu festival. On this day, may almighty bestow upon peace, happiness & prosperity to all. #HappyMaghBihuToAll”, tweets MP Tapir Gao

In his Magh Bihu greetings, Arunachal Pradesh’s BJP state president Biyuram Waghe tweeted, “On the auspicious occasion of Magh Bihu, I extend my best wishes to all on this festival. May this day bring lots of happiness to everyone. #HappyMaghBihuToAll”, tweets Biyuram Waghe

Tripura Congress also extended their Magh Bihu greetings.

“Wishing everyone a very happy and prosperous Happy Magh Bihu !”

Magh Bihu, which is also known as Maghor Bihu, is celebrated to mark the end of the harvesting season.
