Luxury Vehicles Stolen in Assam, Sold in Manipur; Assam Police Bust Gang

The operation included the sale of these stolen cars at a fraction of their market value to buyers in Manipur.
A major car theft racket involving stolen vehicles from Assam and their sale in Manipur was recently uncovered following the arrest of several individuals by the Dispur police in Guwahati.
The gang, led by Rustam Ali, Inamul Ali, and Ali Akbar from Assam, had been targeting luxury vehicles, notably Boleros, in the Christian Basti area of Dispur.
The operation included the sale of these stolen cars at a fraction of their market value to buyers in Manipur.
Three youths identified as Ratan Singh, Rishikesh Singh, and Lanjung Po Golam were identified as the main buyers facilitating this illegal trade.
The Dispur police managed to dismantle this cross-border racket through coordinated efforts, revealing an extensive theft and sale network spanning Assam and Manipur.
The involvement of individuals from both states has raised significant concerns about a cross-border car theft market, prompting further investigation by the Guwahati police. The case underscores the need for heightened vigilance and stronger security measures to combat such crimes.
