LS Polls 2024: Overall voter turnout in phase I recorded at 66.14% and 66.71% in phase II: ECI

In the northeast, in phase I, voting was held for 15 Lok Sabha seats and in phase II, voting was held for 7 Lok Sabha seats.

Voter turnout in phase I of the Lok Sabha elections was recorded at 66.14% and in the second phase the turnout was 66.71%, the Election Commission of India (ECI) said on Tuesday as it shared the figures after the phase I elections on April 19 and phase II elections on April 26.

In the northeast, in phase I, voting was held for 15 Lok Sabha seats and in phase II, voting was held for 7 Lok Sabha seats.

First Phase Lok Sabha Polls

During the first phase of polling, Tripura saw the highest voter turnout at 81.48% for the Tripura East seat while Sikkim recorded second highest turnout with 79.88 % for the lone Lok Sabha seat.

Assam came in third with 78.25% in the 5 seats. Arunachal Pradesh recorded a turnout of 77.68% for the 2 seats, Meghalaya recorded 76.60 % for the 2 seats, Manipur 76.10% for 2 seats, Nagaland 57.72% for the one seat and Mizoram recorded the lowest voter turnout with 56.87% for the lone Lok Sabha seat.

In Assam, in the first phase, five constituencies – Jorhat recorded the highest turnout at 79.89%, Kaziranga recorded 79.33%, Sonitpur 78.46%, Dibrugarh 76.75% and Lakhimpur recorded 76.42%.

In Arunachal Pradesh for the two Lok Sabha seat, Arunachal Pradesh East and Arunachal Pradesh West, voter turnout was recorded at 77.68%. In Arunachal East the turnout was 83.31% and Arunachal West was 73.60%.

Around 76.10% voters exercised their franchise to the two parliamentary seats, of Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur. In Inner Manipur, total voter turnout was recorded at 80.15% and Outer Manipur recorded 68.83 %.
In Meghalaya, total voter turnout was 76.60 %. Shillong recorded 73.78% and Tura recorded 81.37%.

Second Phase LS Polls:

During the second phase of polling, the Outer Manipur seat (voting was held in two phases here. Voting for 15 assembly segments were held in one phase and the remaining 13 segments were held in the next phase) registered the highest voter turnout at 84.85%, whereas in the second phase, Assam recorded 81.17% (for 5 seats) Tripura recorded 80.36% for Tripura West seat.

The five Lok Sabha constituencies Assam – Darrang-Udalguri seat registered 82.01%, Diphu 75.74%, Karimganj 80.48%, Nagaon 84.97% and Silchar recorded 79.05%.
