LS polls 2024: CPIM candidate Rajendra Reang files nomination for East Tripura seat

Rajendra Reang, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) candidate representing the INDIA block for the ST reserved East Tripura parliamentary constituency, started his election campaign with a rally from the CPIM party office in Ambassa before submitting his nomination papers on Tuesday.
Large numbers of indigenous people, comprising supporters of the INDIA block partners CPIM and Congress, adorned with their respective party flags, joined the colorful musical procession.
The rally garnered significant participation from prominent CPIM leaders, including Opposition Leader Jitendra Choudhury, who is also CPIM state secretary and MLA, Left Front convenor and former MP Narayan Kar, former Deputy Speaker Pabitra Kar, and other leaders from CPI, RSP, and Forward Block.
The rally went through the streets of Ambassa town, and culminated with the submission of nomination papers by candidate Rajendra Reang later in the day.
Speaking to Northeast Live, the CPIM candidate Reang expressed disappointment with the BJP government’s failure to address the basic needs of the people, particularly those belonging to tribal communities.
Asserting the growing support for the INDIA block, Reang emphasized the populace’s desire to oust the authoritarian regime led by the BJP at the center.
He underscored the public’s determination to safeguard democracy and uphold the constitution, expressing confidence in the INDIA block’s prospects of securing victory in the upcoming elections.
Later, Reang in presence of Opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury who is also the CPIM state secretary and MLA, submitted his nomination papers to DM Dhalai district Saju Wahid who is also the returning officer for the East Tripura constituency.
