Low-key Christmas celebrations in strife-torn Manipur

This year the state of Manipur will celebrate Christmas with no music, no carols, and without any grand feast or sports events

While Christians in the entire nation and across the globe are in a festive mood, a low-key Christmas celebration is on the cards in strife-torn Manipur which has witnessed months of unrest this year.

Unlike previous years, this year the state of Manipur will celebrate Christmas with no music, no carols, and without any grand feast or sports events.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Pastor of Manipur Baptist Convention, Rev. Uankamang Daimai said that this year the churches in Imphal will observe Christmas with only prayers.

Most of the programs have been cancelled to pay solidarity with the people who lost their lives and houses in the conflict.

The Pastor said that due to the ongoing tension in the state most of the programs have been cancelled.

Meanwhile, Associate Pastor of Tangkhul Baptist Church Imphal, Roger said that this Christmas, they decided to cooperate with the state, and people Manipur to bring peace in the state.
