The airport witnessed nearly 24,000 flight movements during the winter season, which is 15% higher than the previous year
Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati has recorded a 38 per cent increase in footfall during the winter season this year with nearly 28 lakh (27,74,779) passengers using the airport as against nearly 20 lakh (19,96,567) passengers using the airport last year during the same period.
The airport recorded nearly 24,000 flight movements during the winter season this year, which is 15% higher than the previous year. This growth suggests air travel is picking up after the pandemic, the authorities handling the airport said in a release.
The top three national destinations from Guwahati have been Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore, while the two international destinations are Singapore and Paro.
A passenger-centric approach has led to this growth, and Guwahati Airport is optimistic about consistent growth during the summer season, which started on March 26th. As a part of the summer schedule, Air India has begun operating flights from Guwahati Airport to Delhi. Flight number AI891 departs Delhi to Guwahati at 2055 hours, and flight number AI892 departs Guwahati at 2135 hours on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday every week. Additionally, Bhutan Airlines will commence operations from Guwahati Airport on May 16th, the release said.
