Incessant rainfall has triggered massive landslides at multiple locations in West Sikkim this morning blocking many PWD roads

A four-year-old boy was crushed to death after being hit by a landslide in West Sikkim today.

The deceased child is a resident of Lower Lungzik in Gyalshing district.

Curently the roads which are blocked are:

1.Jorethang-Sombaria road
2.Jorethang-Soreng road
3.Nayabazar-Legship road
4.Legship-Tashiding road
5.Pelling-Dentam road
6.Geyzing-Pelling road
7.Ravangla to Yangang blocked at Goguney
8.Bermiok to Namchi Via Phongla blocked near Vedghari
9.Ravangla to Tashiding is blocked at Ghundrukay, and road from Ravangla to Singtam via Ben is also closed
10.The road from Ravangla to Legship has been closed at 9th mile and has been diverted via Chujachen
11.The road from Namchi to Jorethang is blocked at 12th Mile road and has been diverted via Assangthang

  1. Namchi to Melli via Kitam blocked
  2. Jorethang to Melli road blocked at several places
  3. Sumbuk to 8th Mile road blocked at 3 Mile

The State Disaster Relief Force has launched a out search and rescue operation using excavator machines.
