The joint survey of the Land Records Department of the Municipal Board and the Syiem of the Hima Mylliem started at the Sweeper colony in Shillong today.

No sooner had the survey started, a group of residents all females of the colony staged a silent demonstration at the petrol pump in the colony demanding rehabilitation and not relocation.However, the authorities continued their survey side by side amid the demonstration.

Director of Land Records and Survey, I Mawlong said that the survey will be completed within three to four days following which the findings would be submitted to the high level committee.

The survey is being carried out in the locality to ascertain the land ownership in the area as far as the Syiem and the municipal board is concerned. A high level committee has been set up by the state government to relocate the residents of sweeper colony.
