‘Lachit The Warrior’ wins Best Animation Film award at 17th Ayodhya Film Festival 2023

‘Lachit The Warrior’, an animation film on the life and times of legendary Ahom General Lachit Borphukan, has won the ‘Best Animation Film’ award at the 17th Ayodhya Film Festival 2023 held in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh between December 2-3.

The film has been directed by Partha Sarathi Mahanta who is currently the DIG of Special Task Force of Assam police, and produced by Mina Mahanta and Indrani Baruah.

The narration of the film is by Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury and music is by Rupam Talukdar.

Anupam Mahanta is the creative director, while the story boarding and illustration by Hrishikesh Bora and VFX is by Ratul Dutta.

The film was first screened on November 25, 2022, during the 400th Birthday Anniversary Celebration of Lachit Barphukan in New Delhi.

The film was also awarded in national and international film festivals such as–YathaKatha International Film and Literature Festival in Mumbai, Birsamunda International Film Festival in Chennai, Mumbai North-East Film Festival at Mumbai, Delhi Shorts International Film Festival, International Film Festival of India at Goa among others.

Born on November 24, 1622, Borphukan was known for his leadership in the Battle of Saraighat, 1671 in which an attempt by Mughal forces to capture Assam was thwarted.

A person was looted of Rs 50,000 by two motorbike borne miscreants in Tezpur in Sonitpur district of Assam on Tuesday evening.

The incident has been reported from Tezpur’s Deorigaon area and the victim has been identified as Rajdeep Thakur.

The victim has lodged an FIR at Lalmati Police Station in this regard. An investigation into the matter is underway.
