Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu will arrive in Sikkim today on a two-day long state visit.
During his visit to the state, he will lay the foundation stone of the Khangchendzonga Sikkim University today through virtual mode from Sanman Bhawan in Gangtok.
The Khangchendzonga Sikkim University will be set up at Temi Tarku in Namchi District in 17.5 acres of land with an estimated cost of Rs.600 crore.
The Khangchendzonga Sikkim University that came into existence in 2018 is functioning in a temporary campus at Nar Bahadur Bhandari Degree College in Tadong.

The university was set up with a view to making Sikkim an educational hub of the Northeast.
Meanwhile, the local residents of Temi Tarku hailed the State Government’s decision to establish the Khangchendzonga Sikkim University in the locality.
It may be mentioned that Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will go go to Sikkim from Mizoram.
