Kerala is reeling under the heaviest floods it has seen in years.
An estimated 324 people have already died in the devastating floods. More than two lakh people have been rendered homeless.
Rescue operations are being carried out in the flood affected areas by the army and other organisations.
The state, which is facing massive floods since August 8, has been cut off via various routes.
Both rail services and air services have been cut off due to the worsening flood and weather conditions. Life has come to a standstill in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Kerala yesterday in the wake of the situation.
The Prime Minister conducted an aerial survey of the flood hit areas today to assess damages caused in the flood affected areas. He also held discussions with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan regarding the situation at hand. The prime minister is likely to return to New Delhi today evening.
Meanwhile, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalthanhawla has sent a letter to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressing profound grief on the current situation in the state. J
In the letter Lal Thanhawla has also mentioned about people in Mizoram praying for all those affected.
