Assam Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya visited the spot at the Burapahar tea estate near Kaziranga National Park where an elephant was electrocuted to death yesterday.

After inspecting the spot, the Assam Forest Minister blamed the tea garden authorities for the incident as the electric transformer was set up at the spot which falls within an elephant corridor.

On top of that Minister Suklabaidya said that the tea garden authorities did not take any prior permission from the forest department for setting up the transformer.

Here, the Forest Minister said that an investigation would be initiated and the guilty would be punished.

The elephant was electrocuted to death yesterday at Burapahar Tea Estate in Kaliabor in Nagaon district of Assam. The area falls under the Hatidandi animal Corridor.

As per reports, the elephant was killed after it came into contact with an electric transformer.
