The United Students Union of Karbi Anglong (USUKA) led a massive rally in Diphu today, demanding urgent action on long-standing vacancies in lower primary schools and a final resolution to the Assam-Meghalaya border dispute.

The rally witnessed a significant turnout of students marching through the streets holding placards and banners, emphasizing their demands.

The students’ union submitted a memorandum to the district administration, urging the authorities to address these critical issues promptly.

The lack of teachers in primary schools has severely impacted the education of young students in the region, and USUKA leaders stressed the necessity of filling these vacancies without further delay.

USUKA also called for a swift and permanent resolution to the Assam-Meghalaya border dispute, a long standing tension for years.

Jintu Hazarika, General Secretary of USUKA, said, “Despite our repeated protests in Dispur, the government has not addressed our concerns. We are here to submit a memorandum to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, as our issues remain unaddressed. This demonstration is a result of the government’s failure to attend to our concerns.”

As per reports, the district administration acknowledged the memorandum and assured the union that their demands would be forwarded to the relevant authorities.

USUKA has vowed to continue their agitations until results are achieved, underscoring their resolve to see significant changes in the region’s education system and the resolution of the border dispute.
