Kamrup Metro Schools to Conduct Daily Bag and Pocket Checks

Alarmed by recent incidents of students being stabbed or killed  inside classrooms, the Kamrup Metro district administration has mandated daily checks of students’ bags and pockets in all government and private schools.

The district’s Elementary Education Department has issued a directive requiring class teachers to conduct these checks before classes begin each day, to ensure no student is carrying weapons or harmful items, such as tobacco products or toxic substances.

Any objectionable items found must be confiscated, parents are to be informed immediately, and incidents should be reported to the mission coordinator.

This move comes after a Class 9 student in Darrang, was fatally assaulted by classmates over a quarrel during school hours. Another incident were also occurred at Dahotia Higher Secondary School in Jorhat, a group students of Class 12 allegedly attacked a Class 11 student with a knife leaving the victim critically injured. The victim has identified as Debajit Bania.

This new protocol aims to curb rising incidents of violence in schools and promote a safer environment.
