Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that the BJP if voted back to power will grant the status of autonomous state to Karbi Anglong.
The development came after a delegation of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council led by Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ranghang met Prime Minister Modi. BJP’s top strategist for Northeast Himanta Biswa Sarma was also present during the meeting.

The delegation was also assured that the Centre would hold discussions over the matter at an interval of three months. Allocation of funds to the Karbi Autonomous Council was also discussed in the meet.
