As many as four militants have been killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Three local terrorists linked with proscribed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were killed in Shopian’s Drach area last evening, while a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was killed in the south Kashmir district’s Moolu area this morning, police said.

“Three local #terrorists linked with proscribed #terror outfit JeM killed in #encounter at Drach #Shopian,” Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said on Twitter.

“01 local #terrorist of proscribed #terror outfit LeT killed in Moolu #encounter. #Operation going on. Further details shall follow,” ADGP Vijay Kumar said in a subsequent tweet.

Two of the three terrorists killed in the Drach operation were identified as Hanan Bin Yaqoob and Jamshed.

Reportedly both were involved in the recent killing of Special Police Officer (SPO) Javed Dar on October 2 in Pinglana, Pulwama, and an outside labourer from West Bengal on September 24 in the district, said Vijay Kumar.
