Jhankar Saikia lynching case: All 12 convicts awarded life imprisonment

The Diphu Sessions Court has sentenced 12 persons to life imprisonment who have been convicted in the sensational Jhankar Saikia mob lynching case.
Earlier on February 24 the Diphu court held the accused persons guilty in the case. However, 4 others including two cops were acquitted.
Jhankar Saikia, the victim of the incident was brutally thrashed to death by an irate mob in Karbi Anglong’s Diphu following a verbal spat over auto fare.
A case was filed against 16 persons and 2 policemen. Statements of at least 150 persons were also recorded.
