J-K: IAF soldier injured in terrorist attack in Poonch dies, search operation underway

Security personnel on Sunday morning conducted a search operation following a terrorist attack.

An Indian Air Force soldier who was injured in a terrorist attack in the Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir has passed away while one more is said to be critical, security force officials said.

The soldier passed away during treatment at the hospital.

“One of the five Indian Air Force soldiers injured in the terrorist attack has passed away in hospital during treatment. One more soldier is critical and undergoing treatment while the remaining three are stable,” Security Force officials.
Terrorists attacked an Indian Air Force vehicle convoy in the Poonch sector in which military personnel have suffered injuries.
After the attack which took place in the evening around the Shah Sitar area in Poonch sector security forces launched a search and cordon operation, security forces’ officials said.

Following the attack, the local Rashtriya Rifles unit initiated cordon and search operations in the vicinity, with support from the Army and police, to track down the perpetrators

According to the officials, the search operation was carried out to track the terrorists. Security forces have laid down nakas and checking is going on in the area.

Additional forces of the Indian Army reached the Jarra Wali Gali (JWG) in Poonch on Saturday late at night.
