In the second match on April 8, 2023, in Barsapara, Riyan scored 7 runs off 11 balls against the Delhi Capitals.
Riyan has been turning the tables and silencing his critics with his consistent show with the bat for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024. After suffering the wrath of trolls on social media and strong criticism by a few cricket pundits, Parag is finally making long strides to make a name for him in the cash-rich league.
Riyan would be taking to the field tomorrow with a record of 483 runs and a 153 strike rate in all the IPL matches he has played this year.
Riyan has emerged as the cricket sensation not just of Assam but of Northeast and this is expected to put him under extreme pressure with people expecting him to perform better in his home ground.
A stable score and improvisation as per match situations have already made Parag and India contender for the next T20 series where he is likely to make his international debut. As and when it happens, Parag will become the first cricketer hailing from the north-eastern part of the country to wear the senior team’s iconic blue jersey.
With regard to Rajasthan Royals’ match tomorrow and the next one on May 19, the team that is placed second in the 10-team table with 16 points, needs to ensure one win in their next two ‘home’ games in Guwahati. That will be enough to seal the last four berths.
