After 70 league matches, the top four teams on the IPL points table will advance to the playoffs, which includes two qualifiers and one knockout game to determine the finalists for the season.

In order to finalize their squads for the season, the teams participated in the IPL 2023 auction arranged by the BCCI. 

During the auction, the Punjab Kings made headlines by acquiring English all-rounder Sam Curran for a whopping INR 18.50 crore, making him the highest-priced player of the event.

The championship will feature 10 teams, with the top four teams in the 2023 IPL points table qualifying for the playoffs. The best teams will battle in the playoffs, with the winners advancing to the final.

What all 10 teams need to qualify for the playoffs

The eliminator matches the third and fourth teams from the league stage. The winner of that match than meets the losing team from qualifier 1 in qualifier 2, and the winner advances to the final against the qualifier 1 winner.

At the moment, it is known so far that the IPL 2023 playoff games will take place between May 22 and 27, because the final is scheduled for May 28.
