The ban on mobile internet and data services of all service providers in seven districts of the hill state of Meghalaya is likely to be lifted today.

It may be mentioned that the Meghalaya government had imposed a ban on mobile internet and data services in 7 districts-West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, Ri-Bhoi, Eastern West Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills district as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of misinformation and to prevent any further law and order situation after the Mukroh firing incident.

The firing incident took place on November 22 at Mukroh village in West Jaintia Hills resulting in the deaths of as many as six persons.

Yesterday, DGP Meghalaya Police, LR Bishnoi speaking exclusively to Northeast Live said that the suspension of the internet service will be lifted following a review meeting today.

Moreover, the restrictions on the movement of Assam registered vehicles have also been lifted by authorities in Assam, and the Meghalaya police have reportedly increased its patrolling across the state.
