The rescuers, namely Talom Tako and Basant Gogoi took the injured bird to the veterinary clinic for the treatment. The duo informed that the bird was actually spotted by one Yayum Panyang. The bird was injured around its wing due to which the it was unable to fly.

Both Tako and Gogoi later informed the wildlife officials about the injured Barn Owl after which the owl was brought to the division office of the D. Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary.

DFO Tasang Taga of D. Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary appreciated the youths who took the pain to treat the injured bird and then safely handed it over to the wildlife department.

Taga, however, has raised concern over the killing of birds by using airguns despite the Airgun being made to surrender during the Airgun Surrender Abhiyan.

Worth mentioning here that the barn owl is a protected species under Schedule IV of the Wildlife Protection Act (WPA) 1972. Barn owl is the most widely distributed species of owl in the world. The face is characteristically heart-shaped and is white in most subspecies.
