Aimed at improving the road infrastructure in the New Shillong Township, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday laid the foundation for construction of internal roads within the Township. The roads would be built at an estimated cost of Rs 343 crores.
Taking to X, the CM wrote, “Laid foundation for construction of internal roads within the New Shillong Township land at Mawkhanu, Mawpdang.
Addressing connectivity for the city, roads worth 343 crores are in progress in the new township, including Ummir to Mawkhanu and Kynoton to Lyngkien, Bellefonte to new township, Diengpasoh road to Shillong bypass, and Bribah Mawpat to new township.
In phase 2 of the roads, 16.6 Km roads with 15m width and 3.2 km of 2-lane roads with 7.5m width are proposed at a total cost of 185 crores. These roads are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.”
