India’s COVID-19 tally nears 1 crore-mark; recovered cases cross 95 lakh

The total number of COVID-19 cases in India climbed to 99,79,447 on Friday after 22,889 new infections were detected in the last 24 hours.

The toll mounted to 1,44,789 with 338 new deaths, while the active cases in the country reached 3,13,831.

Meanwhile, the total discharged cases stand at 95,20,827 as 31,087 more patients recovered in the last 24 hours.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 15,89,18,646 samples tested for COVID-19 up to December 17. Of these 11,13,406 samples were tested Thursday.

On Friday, registering a landmark achievement in the fight against Coronavirus, the total recovered cases in the country crossed a crucial peak of 95 lakh (95,20,827)

The recovery rate has increased to 95.40 per cent. India is among the top countries with the highest recovery rate globally.

The total recovered cases are more than 30 times the number of active cases. India’s active caseload consists just 3.14 per cent of the total positive cases.

Meanwhile, the daily death toll are on a sustained decline with less than 500 daily deaths registered in the last 13 days.
