India loses Comedy’s Shining Star Raju Srivastav

Popular Comedian Raju Srivastav passed away on Wednesday morning. He was undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences following cardiac arrest.

The news about his demise was confirmed by his family. The 58-year-old stand-up comedian was admitted to AIIMS on August 10. The comedian had collapsed after experiencing chest pain in a gym.

The condition of Raju, who has been a part of popular comedy shows The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Comedy Circus, and The Kapil Sharma Show among others have fluctuated over the past 5 weeks.

He was admitted to AIIMS after suffering cardiac arrest while working out in the gym on August 10 and had regained consciousness after being on a ventilator for 15 days. However, he was put on ventilator support again on September 1.

Meanwhile, Srivastav has been working in the entertainment industry since the late 1980s and received recognition after participating in the first season of the stand-up comedy show “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” in 2005.

He has also featured in films like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya’ and ‘Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon’ among others.
