In a significant development, pictures have emerged of a group of Indian Army soldiers hoisting the tricolour in the Galwan Valley on the New Year.

However, a few photos were released by Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju on his Twitter handle, which can be perceived as a powerful counter to the video circulated from the Chinese side. This latest development assumes significance after the 15th June 2020 incident, where 21 Indian Army soldiers, including a commanding officer, were martyred in the Galwan Valley. After a series of talks between both sides, the de-escalation process was underway to resolve the crisis, and this latest development assumes significance in that direction.
