The match came down to the penultimate ball when Hardik Pandya managed to get a boundary and take India over the line.

India defeated Australia by 6 wickets in the series-deciding final T20I in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Opting to field first after winning the toss, spin sensation Axar Patel once again starred with the ball picking 3 for 33 in his allotted four overs. However, it was Cameron Green and Tim David’s blazing half centuries which took Australia to 186/7.

Coming to the run-chase, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav’s half-centuries put India in cruise mode but Australia then put the squeeze in the death overs. The match came down to the penultimate ball when Hardik Pandya managed to get a boundary and take India over the line.

India lost openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul early but Kohli and Suryakumar’s sensational 104-run stand for the third wicket, which came in just 62 balls, took the game away from Australia.

Green himself played a big role with the ball in stemming the flow of runs on India in the later overs but Kohli hit a six off the first delivery to give his team the impetus. Pandya then took the hosts over the line with one ball remaining.
