India regained the top spot in the men’s ICC T20I team rankings for the first time in six years, after a 3-0 series win over West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday.
India took over the top spot from former T20 World Champions England, who had 269 rating points.
From February 12, 2016, to May 3, 2016, India was the No. 1 in the T20I format under MS Dhoni’s leadership.

Its last loss came in the group stage of the 2021 T20 World Cup against New Zealand, after which it went on to win the remaining three matches against Afghanistan, Namibia, and Scotland.
Following Virat Kohli’s decision to step down as captain after the World Cup, incumbent skipper Rohit Sharma led India to series clean sweeps over New Zealand and the West Indies, raising India’s winning streak to nine in the format.
