Lalhriatrenga Chhangte who fought the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate and secured 12,657 votes joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday.
Chhangte said he decided to join BJP after having studied the different parties in Mizoram and he thought BJP to be the best choice.
Chhangte is of the opinion that nothing good will come out of Mizo National Front (MNF) and Congress, the other political parties of the state. He said he did not join BJP from the beginning because he wanted to test the political waters in Mizoram.
Lalhriatrenga formerly worked as the Deputy Controller of Mines in the Indian Bureau of Mines, Kolkatta and took a voluntary retirement.
