The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations or the CoMSO has expressed hope of meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his proposed visit to the state in July.

Speaking to Northeast Live, CoMSO chairman Robert June Kharjahrin said that they are hopeful of meeting Amit Shah to discuss the long pending demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya.

Kharjahrin further added that it has been a long wait for CoMSO to meet the Home Minister and discuss about the long pending ILP demand, since a resolution for the same was passed unanimously in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

The CoMSO chairman further expressed his confidence that this time the Home Minister will listen to the popular demand and aspirations of the people of the state to protect its demographic structure, just as he had listened to the voice of the people of Manipur.

Echoing similar sentiments, Sadon Blah, President of the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front, said that they have high expectations that the Union Home Minister would come up with the agenda of implementation of ILP in the state as last time Amit Shah could not meet the pressure groups because of the busy schedule because of the Assam Assembly elections.
