In a shocking incident from Meghalaya capital Shillong, unknown miscreants desecrated idols of Lord Bhairava and Goddess Bhairavi at the Marwari Samshan Ghat in Shillong.
The chief priest of the temple was the first to notice the broken pieces of idols on the morning of January 3rd.
Authorities of the crematorium immediately lodged a complaint with the police. The Crime Scene Unit of the Shillong Police swung into action and examined the spot besides collecting evidence.
It has been alleged that numerous such incidents have taken place in the past in the premises of the crematorium.
The Meghalaya BJP condemned the incident and said that it was an attempt to destabilize the peace and tranquility of the state. State BJP president Ernest Mawrie said the matter would be taken up with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
