Husband Allegedly Beats Wife To Death With Iron Rod In Guwahati

The accused, identified as Rubul Sharma, confessed to killing his wife, Shreya Bhattacharyya, by beating her to death over a domestic dispute.

A chilling and macabre incident unfolded in Guwahati’s Ulubari area, where a man beat his wife to death with an iron rod.

The accused, identified as Rubul Sharma, confessed to killing his wife, Shreya Bhattacharyya, by beating her to death over a domestic dispute.

The accused reportedly surrendered at the Paltan Bazar police station after committing the crime.
As per inputs, the victim was originally from Meghalaya and a student at Arya Vidyapeeth College. The couple had a two-year-old daughter and at the time of the incident, the victim’s family was also present.
The police recovered the body of deceased and sent it to the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital for post-mortem.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Rubul murdered his wife over suspicions of an extra-marital affair.
The police stated that the accused walked into the police station at around 10 am and surrendered himself. He gave a statement that he killed his wife over suspicion regarding her illicit relationship with a man from Nagaon.

However, victim’s family alleged that Rubul used to torture her on multiple events.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Paltan Bazar Police Station confirmed that Rubul had been taken into custody.

A crime scene recreation was conducted at the couple’s residence as part of the ongoing investigation.

Further investigation is underway to uncover the real motive behind the tragic murder of two-year-old’s mother.
