It was a sad moment for Hima Das, the sprinter from Assam popularly known as Dhing Express for her speed, as her hopes to return to the track and field was dashed after she failed to reach the finish line at the 200m event at the Indian Grand Prix-1 held in Bengaluru.
She began the race but could not complete the last 50 meters at the event held at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. It is however, not clear why she walked away without completing the race. Reports are suggesting that it could have been an injury forcing Hima to quit the race before the finish line.
Hima, the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal in a track event at the IAAF World U20 Championship, had returned to the track with the 200m event after a break of 13 months following a provisional suspension imposed on her by National Anti- Doping Agency (NADA) after she failed three whereabouts in 12 months.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
