Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has been rated as the most popular chief minister of India in a survey conducted by Ormax Media.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emerged on the top slot beating several other big names among the Chief Ministers of India.

While Himanta Biswa Sarma has bagged the top spot, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is on the second spot with a rating of 64 and the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee bagged the third spot with a rating of 63.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Chief Minister Sarma sits on the top spot with an overall rating of 70 points.

Himanta Biswa Sarma often called ‘Mama’ (meaning maternal uncle) by voters in Assam born on February 1, 1969, is serving as the 15th and current Chief Minister of the state.

Himanta Biswa Sarma took charge as the 15th chief minister of Assam in May 2021.

He is a five-time Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from Jalukbari.

His first win in an assembly election was in 2001, when he won the Jalukbari seat. His winning streak on the seat is still going strong. In fact, with each passing assembly election, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has managed to increase his winning margin.

He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on 23 August 2015. Earlier he was a member of the Indian National Congress political party.
