State Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unfurled the tricolour in Assam’s Golaghat district. Addressing the gathering the minister announced special plans to benefit the farmers of the state.

Accordingly the minister said that farmers will not be required to pay interest if a farmer takes a loan of Rs 2 lakh.

Besides the minister also said that the government will pay 25 percent per lakh on behalf of those farmers who have failed to return their loans.

In order to revive the Kisaan Credit cards, the government will extend a sum of Rs 5000 to the farmers.

The minister also disclosed that around thirty five thousand teachers have been appointed in the past two years.

Sarma also maintained that the government in a bid to boost the education sector has gone for making available free textbooks to students in government schools and colleges.
