The first phase of construction work of the Network of Cancer Hospitals in Assam has begun, said Health and Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Sarma called on Industrialist Ratan Tata, who had had laid the foundation stone of cancer care hospitals in the state last year.
Ten cancer care centres including expansion of State Cancer Institute will come up within the next 12-15 months.
Once completed, the hospitals will bring much needed relief for cancer patients across the Northeast.
