Addressing the party’s youth parliament in Guwahati on Thursday, Assam Health, Finance and Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma allayed fears of the people of the state over the Citizenship Amendment Act.
Sarma said that citizenship will not be provided until applicants provide necessary proofs, as prescribed in the Citizenship Amendment Act.
The Assam health and finance minister also ruled out any threat to the indigenous people after the implementation of the Act.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
