Himachal: Kangra’s chakki bridge collapses due to heavy rain

The Himachal Pradesh's disaster management department has also issued a warning for landslides due to heavy rains in the state till August 25.
The railway bridge on Chakki River in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district collapsed today due to heavy rainfall the state has been receiving since Friday.
The District Magistrate also informed that a flash flood occurred in Mandi district in the early hours today leading to water entering houses and shops, trapping residents, and damaging vehicles parked on the road.
As per the Himachal Pradesh-State Emergency Response Support System, the incident has affected places at Balh, Sadar, Thunag, Mandi, and Lamathach in the district. On Friday, Mandi reported a heavy cloudburst and a landslide.
The district deputy commissioner, Arindam Chaudhary issued an order on Friday evening in view of the incessant rains Mandi has been receiving for the past two days, it is decided that all the government and private educational institutions except colleges and ITI in Mandi district shall remain closed today.

Meanwhile, all the Locals and tourists have been advised to avoid going near the rivers and streams in bad weather.
