Hijab row in Tripura? Class X student beaten

Situation in Bishalghar sub-division, located in the bordering Sepahijala district of Tripura, turned tense on Friday after a class 12 student from Karaimura school was allegedly beaten up for protesting against a group of people who were allegedly preventing girls from entering the school wearing hijab.

Later police personnel rescued the student.

Locals, outraged by the incident, blocked the roads, alleging that the victim, a student of Class X, was dragged out of the school premises and assaulted.

Meanwhile, Bishalgarh MLA Sushanta Deb condemned the incident and stated that all measures would be taken to ensure that peace prevails in the area.

Deb added that there is no room for communal disharmony in Bishalghar and police will take appropriate action in the incident.
