Troopers of the Assam Rifles recovered 198.3 grams of Heroin worth Rs 30 lakh along Indo-Myanmar border under Tlangsam area of Mizoram on Friday.
Based on specific inputs, a joint operation was launched by the Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles with the Excise and Narcotics dept along the border are of Myanmar. The operation was carried out around 5:00 AM after a suspected individual was noticed in the area. during which the contraband item was recovered.
Security personnels immediately rushed to the spot to intercept the suspect, but, the individual managed to flee towards Myanmar crossing the Tiau River. On his attempt to escape, the suspect dropped a package containing contraband item, which was later recovered by the team during a search operation.
The consignment was seized on the spot by Excise & Narcotics Department, Champhai for further legal proceedings.
