Incessant rains leading to cloud burst in Manipur’s capital city Imphal in the intervening night of 25 and 26 July triggered massive flash floods and affected large area of land in Lamlai area on the outskirt of Imphal east.

Seijang village located on the foot-hills of Manipur received unexpected heavy rains, which is expected to last till tomorrow morning, has resulted massive flash-flood to adjoining Lamlai areas.

More than 100 houses have been damaged in the flash-flood. Local clubs swung into action and opened relief camps to shelter the homeless peoples in and around the Lamlai area.
Local MLA along with SDO Lamlai visited the affected areas to take stock of the flood situation.

Meanwhile, Imphal is also witnessing moderate to heavy rains since this morning. The level of major rivers like Imphal River and Nambul river have been constantly rising.
